My first insight
When I was a little boy in the Christian Science Sunday School, my teachers told me about God. The two main things they told me about God that I really grabbed onto somehow, was that God was all good, all loving and was everywhere, always with me.
As one of the original “latchkey kids” (these were the rare children that had keys to their homes because no parent was home when they got there) I found comfort in knowing that God, this loving Father Mother, was always with me. I really felt like God was my friend, although invisible and fairly intangible. And yet I guess I felt God as a presence.
This is so important for all of us as adults, to have that childlike sense that God loves us and is taking care of us. Jesus told us that we need to be childlike in order to enter the kingdom of God.
“Unless you accept God’s kingdom in the simplicity of a child, you’ll never get in.” (Mark 10:15 – Message Bible)
This kingdom is not far off or in the future, it is now. It is the place of peace and harmony in our thought.
So together, let’s be like little children, put our hand in God’s and trust Him/Her with our life. I can’t begin to tell you how this has paid off for me. And I would like to remember it and keep it up, and you can join me if you like.
