Prayer can help in Egypt

Some feel there is nothing we can do but just wait it out and see what happens in Egypt. But our prayers can truly help quell the violence erupting there -- help to bring intelligence and wisdom and peace to this volatile situation. Where do we start?

Thoughts about Egypt

There is nothing new under the sun. The demands being made by the Egyptians made this scripture from Ezekiel stand out to me recently, "And thou, profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day is come, when iniquity shall have an end, Thus saith the Lord God; Remove the diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same: exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high. I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him."

Haiti and God

There’s an interesting discussion responding to comments that have been made saying in essence that what happened in Haiti was the wrath of God or God’s punishment to the Haitian people, for the voodoo or other sins they have committed.

Stranded by an ash cloud—how I prayed

There I was, stranded at an airport in Chicago, only halfway to my destination. An ash cloud was moving across the United States from west to east as a result of the 1980 volcanic explosion of Mt. St. Helens, in Washington State. Air travel had been suspended. All indications were pointing to the fact that I was going to be stuck in Chicago for a while.
